ICPCI and BIS organizes a special session on the Revised ‘National Electrical Code India 2011’ in Bangalore

ICPCI and BIS organizes a special session on the Revised ‘National Electrical Code India 2011’  in Bangalore
International Copper Promotion Council India (ICPCI) in knowledge partnership with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a special session on the Revised ‘National Electrical Code India’, which kick started in the City of Pearls- Hyderabad before reaching Bangalore. The focus of the seminar was bringing to light various provisions related to electrical installation practices in India. The seminar was addressed by a panel of dignitaries comprising of Mr. A. N. Thyagaraja - Chief Engineer, PWD Govt. of Karnataka, Mr. D. H. Basavaraju- Chief Electrical Inspector (Bangalore), Mr. Amol Kalsekar- Chief Manager - Building Wire- ICPCI, Mr. B. K. Charan Dev- President- Electrical Consultants Association and other industry experts.
Amol Kalsekar- Chief Manager - Building Wire, ICPCI said, “Electrical systems and equipments play a vital role in various energy conversion processes across industries. While installing electrical appliances it is very critical that the quality of power, safety, and power saving methods is given utmost importance”.
“Every individual involved in designing and assembling of electrical installation has to follow certain rules and regulations while installing electrical systems right at inception stage to maintain a degree of safety. The National Electrical code issued by BIS has undergone revision considering changes in technology, practices and the pattern of usage of electricity in India. To improve electrical safety in India, ICPCI along with other industry experts wants to reach out to the electrical engineers and utilities and impart them with latest provisions in the revised National Electrical code of India 2011”, said Amol Kalsekar.

 Mr. A. N. Thyagaraja - Chief Engineer, PWD Govt. of Karnataka, further added, “Bangalore is India's third most populous city. There is a continuous rise in the number of malls, hospitals, residential buildings thus making it imperative for utilities an electrical engineers follow certain safety rules and regulations while installing electrical appliances to avoid fire covered. Thus it is recommended that consultants dealing with electrical installation should be familiar with the Indian standard and apply the revised version of the code. Major revisions and additions have been made in Earthing and general wiring practices, grounding of optical cables, circuit protection and special conditions like emergency systems.”

To reduce the loss of lives and properties and to educate the industry professionals for using the electrical appliances safely, International Copper Promotion Council India (ICPCI) along with the panel of experts organized this seminar with the aim of increasing the industry professionals’ awareness of various safety measures and precautions while installing, handling, repairing or working on electrical installations and urging them to follow the revised Standards. The seminar was attended by more than 120 professionals including electrical engineers, designers, manufacturing associations, power quality equipment suppliers, policy makers, technical officers across various industrial sectors.
