As part of CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) programme in which the students are involved in a range of activities & community initiatives alongside their academic studies throughout the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), 12th grade IB diploma students of Greenwood High International School, Bangalore arranged a sports meet, Lakshya, purely a student organized event for more than 100 students from 3 orphanages at its campus recently. The event gave children who are deprived of quality sports facilities an opportunity to showcase their athletic talent.
All the children from the orphanages were also provided with refreshments. Mr. Aloysius D’Mello, Principal and IBDP Coordinator, Ms. Kavita Sinha did the honor of awarding the prizes to children.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High International School said “Community initiative is an integral part at our school. It allows students to become responsible for their own actions and to realize that they can make a difference. We encourage our students to engage in various community service initiatives and learn valuable citizenship lessons along the way. While we focus on excellence in teaching, it is important for us to be aware of the needs of the community and make a meaningful contribution towards them, she added”.
